Letter from a Client
We recently received a letter from a client who was a victim of domestic violence. It is graphic and compelling. We don't hear our success stories often enough so these letters are valuable to us. If you want to read a first hand account of a family before during and after the violence, I encourage you to read this.
What we do:
Our agency provides shelter, counseling and advocacy to victims of domestic violence and their children in the High Desert. Our 24 bed facility allows the women and their children to remain together in a nurturing environment while they negotiate this painful transition in their lives. We help our clients navigate the legal system dealing with restraining orders and court ordered visitation. We provide no cost counseling and peer group counseling to help create a healthy happy future for their family. We also provide the necessary support for our clients to keep their current employment or search for new employment here in the Victor Valley. When the family is ready to move on, we help find housing and provide furniture and/or other necessary items to start their new violence free life.
Rental and Utility Assistance Program
HDDVP is proud to be the recipient of a $1M grant to provide much needed services through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This money is part of the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing Program. Unfortunately, this money cannot be used to help families living in Apple Valley, Hesperia or Victorville. For more information,
Every 12 seconds 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, a woman suffers from some sort of violence at the hands of her spouse, boyfriend, or partner.
