High Desert Domestic Violence Program
Letter from a Client
We recently received a letter from a client.
It is graphic and compelling. We don't hear our success stories often enough so these letters are valuable to us. If you want to read a first hand account of a family before during and after the violence, I encourage you to read this.
What we do:
Our agency provides shelter, counseling and advocacy to victims of domestic violence and their children. Our 24 bed facility allows the women and their children to remain together in a nurturing environment while they negotiate this painful transition in their lives. We help our clients navigate the legal system dealing with restraining orders and court ordered visitation. We provide no cost counseling and peer group counseling to help create a healthy happy future for their family. We also provide the necessary support for our clients to keep their current employment or search for new employment. When the family is ready to move on, we help find housing and provide furniture and/or other necessary items to start their new violence free life.
